As a new member you are entitled to meet with our staff nurse. The Nurse will evaluate your health history, risk factors and/or symptoms that may affect or be affected by a fitness program. The nurse will take your blood pressure, heart rate, body composition, and body measurements. This will generate a computerized personal profile that the nurse will print and review with you.
For your safety, our staff of nurses is on location in order to respond to emergencies. Our entire staff, not just our nurse staff, is trained in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and use of Automatic Defibrillator should there be any emergencies when the nurse is off duty.
The nursing assessment is focused on completing an overall medical screening. Nurse assessments are available to you quarterly in order to update your medical history and evaluate your progress. At your reassessment, the nurse will review a report comparing your prior statistics with current ones. The nurse will provide you with a copy of the report for your records.
Our nursing staff is well versed on all that the center has to offer and can give you great recommendations as to which programs will be most beneficial for any condition you may have. They are also available to facilitate the medical clearance process when necessary.
There is a blood pressure station at the kiosk on the cardio floor. You can have your blood pressure taken at any time. If you are interested in trending your blood pressure, let the staff know. A copy can be made for you to take to your physician.
All minors (under 18 years old) will need a “Permission to Respond to Minors” form completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to exercising in the facility. This signed form will allow our staff members to help a minor in our facility should an incident or emergency occur, particularly if the parents are not present or in the facility at the time of the occurrence. Parental Signatures are also required in order for a minor to complete the assessment process.
